Description

A richly detailed late Victorian brooch centered by a vivid oval turquoise cabochon with naturally occurring matrix. Eighteen natural seed pearls with lovely golden-cream nacre form a luminous halo, while sculptural fleur-de-lis terminals extend from either side of the 14k gold bar.

Dating to approximately 1870–1890, this brooch was created well before cultured pearls entered commercial jewelry production. The natural seed pearls remain beautifully matched while retaining the slight variation characteristic of their natural origin.

The brooch retains its original long pin stem and simple C clasp. Its compact proportions work beautifully on a lapel, collar, or scarf. It is also shown styled across a double-strand pearl necklace for inspiration; the necklace is not included and is sold separately.
