A dramatic vintage Mexican Modernist ring centered with an approximately 7-carat natural smoky quartz. The elongated marquise displays warm golden-brown color, crisp faceting, and excellent transparency.
Four sculptural prongs sweep upward from an open architectural gallery, enclosing the gemstone while leaving its profile and lower facets visible. The curving silver framework, raised construction, and restrained ornament are characteristic of Mid-Century Modernist design.
The smoky quartz measures approximately 21 × 10 mm and is estimated at approximately 7 carats based on its dimensions and proportions. It appears clean under a jeweler’s loupe, with one minute natural inclusion visible only under approximately 20× magnification.
Signed “Sanches,” ending with the letter S, and stamped “Mexico 925.” Other Mexican silver rings are documented with this same Sanches spelling, although the maker’s full identity has not been established. The design is likely circa 1960s–1970s.
Excellent vintage condition. The smoky quartz is free from chips and noticeable surface abrasions. All four prongs are intact and secure, and the open gallery and substantial shank remain sound.
