Hand-pierced Rococo scrollwork, twelve garnet-colored paste crystals and two natural baroque pearls distinguish this rare late-18th-century Georgian necklace centerpiece. Preserved with its original ribbon loops and articulated construction, it offers a remarkable glimpse into 18th-century jewelry making.

Description

A rare late-18th-century Georgian necklace centerpiece, dating to approximately 1770–1800. Entirely handmade from gilt-brass sheet, the ornament was intricately pierced, engraved and shaped into flowing Rococo scrollwork.

Twelve tiny garnet-colored paste-glass crystals and two natural baroque pearls remain in their original settings. Two loops on the reverse allowed the centerpiece to be threaded onto a ribbon. The articulated lower section originally suspended an additional ornament, now lost. A compelling Georgian jewelry study, it may be displayed as found, mounted on ribbon or sensitively incorporated into a new jewel.

Excellent antique condition as a surviving fragment. All twelve original paste stones are present and free of significant chips; both natural pearls and rear ribbon loops are secure. No breaks, repairs or replaced components noted. Scattered age-related patina has intentionally been left unpolished. The original lower terminal ornament is no longer present.
