A rare 1948 gold-tone Honeycomb cravat necklace attributed to Alfred Philippe for Trifari. Its fluid tessellated links form a close-fitting collar, while two crossed tails meet beneath an ingenious jeweled front clasp.
The distinctive link construction matches Trifari’s documented “Honeycomb” necklace advertised in the March 1948 issue of Ladies’ Home Journal. Although no maker’s mark is present on this necklace, Trifari is identified as the brand and Alfred Philippe as the designer based on the matching chain construction, cravat form and ornamental clasp concept.
The concealed clasp combines a keyhole-style turn lock with a hidden snap. It is set with carved acorn-form moonstone glass and two ruby-colored rhinestones. One tail ends in two pointed drops and the other in one; no empty attachment point is apparent.
