A luminous red glass dome commands attention in this substantial vintage sterling silver ring.
The 20 mm high-domed cabochon glows deep crimson as light passes through it. Broad, curved custom prongs secure the glass above an open gallery, while applied double fleur-de-lis ornaments lend sculptural detail to each shoulder. Its generous scale and elevated profile create a striking cocktail ring.
Marked Sterling inside the shank; the cabochon is tested glass. The maker and exact date are unknown.
The glass has no chips or scratches and is securely set. The intentionally open, overlapping shank is slightly out of round from previous adjustment. Currently approximately size 5; further adjustment is best entrusted to a jeweler.
