Truly exquisite assemblage of an Art Deco Chatelaine brooch in Sterling Silver and Marcasite with an antique solid 14k Yellow Gold St Christopher medal. The brooch is so gorgeous, the medal is so unusual, St Christopher surrounded by the 12 signs of the Zodiac. I have never seen anything quite like it in all the decades I have dealt in the Jewelry Trade. These two pieces were found together, probably have been together for many decades, I could not separate them.

The brooch is 1 3/8" wide at the bar and almost 2" long not including the medal. It is very well made, pave'd with old Marcasites and finely detailed. The clasp for the drop at the back resembles the hook/latch of an antique watch chain. The bar clasp has the antique safety . I could not find any marks, it was carefully tested for metal content.

The rare 14k Yellow Gold St Christopher medal is a bit over 3/4" in diameter not including the bail on the top. The image of St Christopher is partially dimensional. It is quite old and some detail has been lost perhaps for holding it. There are marks on the reverse, the initials J/ B. I assume are for the jeweler. There are turtle marks but I cannot make them out of get a good enough photograph of the area. It appears to be European.

Overall length is 2 13/16" approximately. Overall weight is 10.4 grams of both gold and silver.

Our Estate Jewelry measuring guide - model's hand.

We measure bracelets based on their wearable length, not the actual length. We do this because chunky bracelets will have a smaller wearable length than the actual length as the thickness of the bracelet reduces the internal measurement. If at any time you would like the actual length and is not in the description, please feel free to contact us.
