Gorgeous Late Victorian lavaliere style chain necklace with matching locket.
The chain is shaped as a Y with a removable drop.
You can wear the ensemble as is, change the locket to another pendant or add a padlock heart to the longest portion of the necklace.
Overall shape is similar to a muff chain.
Beautiful design with solid tubes adorned with twirling white enamel.
The pendant locket is beautiful too.
Frame on the front cover is hand chased with leaf or plume pattern.
The center is enameled in white pin stripe pattern.
At the very center a small round seed pearl.
Back cover of the locket is hand engraved L.R.F. in elaborate script.
Necklace with locket wear as a 28" necklace plus the height of the locket.
Top portion of chain is approximately 24".
It does not have a clasp on the back, the clasp is at the front at the end of the lower section which holds the locket.
Locket has a swivel fancy bail and turns 360 on the chain.
The bail is also adorned, the details on this necklace are just gorgeous.
Overall measurements for the locket are approximately 1 5/8" tall including the bail by 13/16" at the widest point and 1/4" at the center of the seed pearl.
Inside the locket there are frames for two pictures, original bezels included.
There is also a maker's mark which is not legible.
Marked 1/10 Gold Filled, twice the gold content on the vast majority of Gold Filled (1/20).
In excellent condition, slight wear to the top of the seed pearl consistent with age.
Estimated to date from the 1890's, maybe 1900's.
