Victorian, 1830s to 1900s
This is one of the finest pieces of Antique Victorian Costume Jewelry I have seen. The cameo is actually cameo glass, glass is layered and then hand carved. Looks just like a carved stone cameo.
The setting has the perfect look of solid gold. However, it is pinchbeck, an alloy created exclusively for Costume Jewelry so fine things would be more affordable.
Beautifully carved, the white Cameo is matte against a highly polished black background.
Overall measurements for the brooch are 36 mm or 1 3/8" North South by 29 mm or 1 1/8" East West.
Center of the cameo reaches 11 mm or 7/16" high.
Cameo itself is estimated to measure 20 mm or 13/16" North South by 15 mm or 9/16" East West.
In superb condition with only very minor flakes on the very edge of one side of the black background. It requires magnification to see.
Closes with a simple c clasp.
Built in bail for a locket, watch or chatelaine.
This information is intended to help you understand our sizing methods.
Please note many small measurements are in millimeters. It is a Jewelry Industry standard for accuracy.
You can download and print the Ring Sizing Chart. Make sure to follow the directions closely for best accuracy. Most rings can be sized unless otherwise noted. Cost of sizing is not included, please inquire with ring information and size required for an estimate.
Our model's hand is approximately 5" wide or 12 cm as seen in this image:
We measure bracelets based on their wearable length, not the actual length. We do this because chunky bracelets will have a smaller wearable length than the actual length as the thickness of the bracelet reduces the internal measurement. If at any time you would like the actual length and is not in the description, please feel free to contact us.
