Victorian, 1830s to 1900s
Gorgeous antique Victorian Sterling Silver bookchain locket necklace with hand engraved/chased links chain and ornate engraved locket. Entirely made by hand, the each link is patterned on one side, smooth on the other with parallel cut out lines that let you see the skin when worn.
Chain is 1/2" wide at each of the flat oval links and 1/4" wide at each of the book links. Overall length is 16.5" long.
The beautiful large locket is 2.25" long including the custom bail by slightly over 1.25" at the widest point. Fits two large photos with interior dimensions of approximately 1.5" by 1.25". Photos are held by the Sterling bezels which are present. It is decorated with two different patterns, one on each cover. One side has a shield for initials which is blank, you can have your own added.
In excellent condition, only marks are the ones made by the jeweler so the two sides of locket would match. Carefully tested to verify Sterling content. Likely made in the US around 1880's.
This information is intended to help you understand our sizing methods.
Please note many small measurements are in millimeters. It is a Jewelry Industry standard for accuracy.
You can download and print the Ring Sizing Chart. Make sure to follow the directions closely for best accuracy. Most rings can be sized unless otherwise noted. Cost of sizing is not included, please inquire with ring information and size required for an estimate.
Our model's hand is approximately 5" wide or 12 cm as seen in this image:
We measure bracelets based on their wearable length, not the actual length. We do this because chunky bracelets will have a smaller wearable length than the actual length as the thickness of the bracelet reduces the internal measurement. If at any time you would like the actual length and is not in the description, please feel free to contact us.
