Victorian, 1830s to 1900s
Gorgeous, deeply carved Victorian Sterling Silver locket depicting a griffin. The mythical creature adorns both locket covers. Locket is very detailed, beautifully made with room for 2 images but only one bezel, which is covered with the original glass. The inner cover would hold a photo, the framed and covered side a lock of hair.
Locket measures 15/16" in diameter and is 1 1/4" long and almost 3/8" deep at the center. There are no marks, not even on the soldered bail. Carefully tested. Estimated to date from the 1880's. In excellent condition with lovely patina, it can be polished brighter if desired.
This information is intended to help you understand our sizing methods.
Please note many small measurements are in millimeters. It is a Jewelry Industry standard for accuracy.
You can download and print the Ring Sizing Chart. Make sure to follow the directions closely for best accuracy. Most rings can be sized unless otherwise noted. Cost of sizing is not included, please inquire with ring information and size required for an estimate.
Our model's hand is approximately 5" wide or 12 cm as seen in this image:
We measure bracelets based on their wearable length, not the actual length. We do this because chunky bracelets will have a smaller wearable length than the actual length as the thickness of the bracelet reduces the internal measurement. If at any time you would like the actual length and is not in the description, please feel free to contact us.
