A substantial 1945 Crown Trifari collar necklace designed by Alfred Philippe. Two staggered rows of irregular hexagonal plates create Trifari’s flexible Honeycomb pattern, giving the necklace the smooth movement and tailored appearance of a fine articulated chain.
The clasp is stamped Crown Trifari and DES. PAT. 143349. U.S. Design Patent D143,349 was filed by Alfred Philippe on July 14, 1945, and issued December 25, 1945, providing unusually precise documentation for this early Trifari design.
Gold plated over base metal, the necklace rests close to the neckline and closes with its original concealed box clasp.
