Antique Sterling Silver Match Safe Vesta Case by Watrous Manufacturing of Connecticut
This gorgeous match case or vest case is hand-engraved with the initials “CER” in elaborate letters.
The W in a crescent stamp is the mark for the Watrous Manufacturing Co. of Wallingford, Connecticut
The match safe is 2 1/2 inches (62mm) tall, 1 7/16 inches (36mm) wide, and 7/16 inches (11mm) deep.
It is engraved CER and is in great condition. The lid opens and stays closed, and the match striker at the base is in very good shape.
There are no dents or serious scratches. It was hand-polished. However, light lines on its surface from age and regular use remain.
It is stamped Sterling right next to the W in a crescent, the maker’s mark. It is also stamped with the number 4, which is likely a style or pattern number.
