Description
This antique Victorian sterling silver folding cigar holder pendant fob is a great example of Victorian ingenuity and smart design.
Made as a telescopic piece in four segments, it fits nicely in the beautiful sterling silver repousse container. It would be carried as a pocket watch chain fob by the gents or as a pendant on a chatelaine by the ladies.
It is so well made. The case has a raised pattern on top and base. There is a beautifully engraved cartouche where initials can be engraved. It is blank. The inside of the case is gilded.
I don’t believe this fob has ever been worn or used. It is in pristine condition with light surface wear consistent with age.
The case is almost 15/16 of an inch tall. The lid is 15 mm in diameter and the base is 14 mm in diameter. It is slightly tapered and fits the telescoping cigar holder perfectly. The measurements do not include the link or the hinge.
The cigar holder measures 2 inches when fully extended. One end is 14 mm in diameter. The opposing end is 7 mm in diameter.
There aren’t any marks. It was carefully tested. This is an extremely scarce item and a great addition to any collection or jewelry wardrobe.
