This antique Victorian trinket box by S&S Limoges will not disappoint the discerning collector. The dimensional cover depicts a hand offering flowers. Adorning the sides and framing the cover are lines of delicate gilded applied flowers.
The hand itself is very intricate. It wears a signet ring and a lava cameo bracelet, which can be seen peeking from the ruffled sleeve. It holds a bouquet of yellow roses with reddish petal tips and rests on a bed of detailed green leaves.
This enchanting jewelry box measures approximately 3 inches at the highest point of the hand. The base is 4.5 inches by 2.5 inches.
The condition is good for such a delicate piece that has been here for such a long time. It is estimated to date from the 1890s. There is some loss of gilding on some of the applied white flowers. There are also little bits of lost petals on them. There are no repairs or cracks.
The hallmarks S&S and the number 124 are impressed on the base. The numbers 15 and 40 are hand-painted in delicate handwriting.
