Description
A lovely antique Art Nouveau lavalier necklace set with an oval faceted garnet and adorned with natural (not cultured) pearls.
The sinuous curves of its design are set with tiny graduated natural seed pearls. There are two drops, each a baroque natural pearl in a triangular shape. The focus is the center, where a lovely oval-cut faceted garnet is set in an open-back bezel.
The pendant measures 1 5/8 of an inch from the top of the link bail to the tip of the bottom pearl. It is almost 13/16 of an inch at the widest point. It is heavier and more substantial than most I have seen. It is made of solid 10k gold.
Completing the necklace is a 1.8 mm thick tight curb link chain 18 inches long. The chain is gold-filled and was found with the pendant. It is vintage and not as old as the pendant. The pendant dates from the late 1890s to the early 1900s.
The necklace weighs a total of 6.6 grams. It is unmarked and was carefully tested.
The condition is excellent. It is a gorgeous rare necklace.
Garnet is the birthstone for January.
