Description
This beautiful Art Nouveau style sterling silver locket pendant necklace dates from the 1970s. The lovely locket cover depicts the ideal beauty of the turn of the 20th century, with delicate features and soft hair tendrils flowing in the wind.
The cameo image is created by mimicking repousse, the technique of creating a raised form on the metal surface by heating it and lifting it from the back. It requires excellent mastery. This piece, however, was likely stamped. The quality is excellent, with great detail and a beautiful design, true to the era it is inspired by.
The locket is oval. The back cover is hand-engraved, another sign of high quality. It measures almost 1 1/2″ tall, not including any of the links on the top. It is 1/16″ at the widest point.
Completing the necklace is a beautiful paper clip chain 3mm wide and 20″ long. It complements it well and gives the necklace a modern and timeless look.
The necklace is marked “925” on the chain and “Sterling” inside the locket. The condition is excellent. It has a beautiful warm patina that enhances each detail.
