This pendant features an authentic Chinese antique porcelain shard, carefully preserved and set in sterling silver. The fragment displays a finely hand-painted scene originally created for a porcelain or china object from turn-of-the-century China. Rather than being discarded, the historic fragment was thoughtfully framed to create a wearable piece of cultural history.
Many hand-painted porcelain works were destroyed during periods of upheaval in China, making surviving examples increasingly uncommon. This piece is not a modern reproduction. The age and authenticity are evident in the refined brushwork, expressive detail, and painterly quality that are difficult to replicate in later copies.
