Description
This gorgeous and uncommon cameo brooch hails from the late Victorian Era, based on her Neo-Classical profile. The frame is a combination of gold-filled for the structure and low carat gold for the flowers and leaves. An antique paste stone is prong-set as the center of each flower.
The lovely image is meticulously hand-carved from natural shell. It measures approximately 1″ tall by 3/4″ wide. It is beautiful, she has beautiful features and a kind, loving demeanor.
The brooch itself is approximately 1.75″ by 1.5″. It is in very good condition for its age, estimated to date from the late 1890s, towards the end of the Victorian Era. The paste stones (the old rhinestones) are not as bright as they once were but that is part of its character and charm. They still sparkle!
