Harper’s Bazaar Magazine December 1937 – New York and Paris Fashions – Christmas 1937
This very rare issue includes 179 pages of amazing 1930s fashion. A.M. Cassandre’s cover and additional illustrations.
Several photographers worthy of mention are Louise Dahl-Wolfe, George Platt Lynes, Hoyningen-Hune, and Venneman. Amazing photos include a young Salvador Dali sunning at the beach.
An amazing array of advertisements from Chrysler and Oldsmobile autos to Georg Jensen, Cartier, and early Chanel. There are too many to list. It includes at least two features of Jean Schlumberger jewelry and several Schiaparelli pieces in editorials.
December issues are my personal favorites, and this Harpers Bazaar Magazine Dec 1937 does not disappoint. They include the A List of fashion, style, design, art, travel, and photography of their time.
This magazine is in remarkably good condition for its age. The bottom edge has a very light staining and a “wavy” edge on all of the pages.
There is some foxing but no mildew or strong odor. Light bruising to the bottom of the spine cover. The binding is tight. The inside pages are intact and in good shape, with no cutouts.
