Description
This exquisite massive sterling silver Hill Tribe necklace is entirely made by hand. Worthy of a warrior, represented by its arrow-shaped pendant.
As a counterpoint to the bold design, the pendant is hand engraved with a delicate floral bouquet and lotus flower arrangement reminiscent of Art Nouveau. The engraving is framed by a hand-hammered dotted outline and accented with applied spirals.
The necklace has the most beautiful warm patina that can only be achieved by the passage of time. It was cleaned but not polished. The patina is part of its magic and allure.
Completing this necklace are eight huge sterling silver melon beads, each 1″ in diameter. They are strung on an intricately woven custom rope that includes the clasp. It is an exquisite piece you won’t find again.
The condition is excellent, with no damage. It looks unworn. Please note the melon beads are filled with wax, a style often present on dowry jewelry. Slight imperfections are part of its character. It is marked 925 and carefully tested.
The pendant is 5″ tall by 3 1/4″ at the widest point. Wearable length 15 1/2″. The total approximate weight is 190 grams.
Pieces like this one are hard to date, perhaps 1970s, probably older.
