A natural opal crowns tiers of blue sapphires in this dramatic sterling silver princess-style cocktail ring.
The oval cabochon displays blue undertones, green play of color, and occasional red and orange flashes. Forty-four round faceted sapphires form a conical cluster beneath it, with subtle variations in blue adding depth. Individually prong-set stones and an open basket gallery define the tall, mid-century-style design; its exact age is unknown.
Stamped “18k,” but testing identifies a sterling silver base rather than solid 18k gold. The ring has a white gold plated finish; the plating’s karat and thickness are unverified. Metal and gemstones tested. Stones are in excellent condition, with no chips or fractures visible to the naked eye.
