This exceptional Victorian-era brooch features a luminous mother of pearl cameo, hand-carved with the elegant profile of a woman rendered in classical Greco-Roman style. Her flowing hair and finely shaped features rise softly from the iridescent shell, catching the light with every movement.
The cameo is securely bezel-set in a sterling silver frame, marked Sterling on the reverse. Completing the period authenticity, the brooch retains its original C-style clasp—a fitting detail for jewelry from the late 19th century.
Although over 130 years old, the brooch is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. A natural patina on the reverse adds to its antique character. As with all mother of pearl jewelry, it should not be dipped in chemical silver cleaners.
A beautifully preserved example of Victorian craftsmanship—refined, romantic, and richly iridescent.
