Description
WOW! These are so hard to find in this great condition. This authentic antique Victorian bangle or cuff is hinged at the center with bypassing ends. These are also called clamper cuffs or bangles because of the way they open and clamp around the wrist. This bracelet is made of thick gold filled.
The heavily ornate finials in the front are adorned with tiny Persian Turquoise cabochons. The center bar is hand engraved with an abstract design.
At rest, the bracelet measures 1 3/4″ front to back and 2″ side to side with an interior diameter of 5 1/2″. People were smaller back then, but it is articulated and will fit larger wrists.
Dating from the 1880’s, you will find a small plaque near the end of one arm that reads “PT Mar 21 87” for Patented March 21, 1887.
The bracelet is in excellent condition with some wear to the ends that is barely noticeable, best seen with magnification.
