A substantial vintage sterling silver long guard chain measuring an exceptional 63 inches. Its closely fitted curb links have a fluid drape and enough length to be worn full length, doubled, tripled, or arranged in graduated layers.
The chain is continuous, with a functioning dog clip that can hold a watch, locket, guardapelo, or other pendant. The clip can also be attached directly to the chain to create different layered arrangements.
Marked “Sterling” on the dog clip. Additional worn marks appear near both ends, although only the number “84” remains legible. No maker has been identified.
At approximately 40.4 grams, this is a notably substantial chain with a pleasing weight and smooth movement. Its versatile scale works equally well as a long watch or lorgnette chain and as a layered sterling silver necklace.
Excellent vintage condition. The curb links are complete and move freely, and the dog clip opens and closes securely. The silver retains an attractive aged patina.
