This vintage Mexican Metales Casados pendant necklace is crafted in sterling silver and features a striking double-sided design. One side is set with turquoise inlay accented by an embedded brass bird rendered in an ethnic, tribal style, while the reverse is composed of dark pipestone carved with a spiraling abstract motif.
The pendant is substantial in scale and presence, offering two distinct visual expressions in a single piece. It is signed on the bail “Metales Mexico AVM,” confirming its origin and maker.
The necklace is finished with a heavy sterling silver rope chain measuring 23 inches in length. The chain is also signed “Mexico, MJM, 925,” and complements the pendant with matching weight and proportion.
With a combined weight of approximately 39.3 grams, both the pendant and chain have a solid, confident feel. This piece is believed to date to the 1930s, predating the introduction of Mexican Eagle marks.
