Description

An exceptional vintage sterling silver necklace attributed to Navajo workmanship, entirely handcrafted from sheet silver. Individually formed 6mm beads—often called Navajo pearls—support seven graduated half-dome drops in a bold, beautifully balanced fringe.

Each hollow circular drop was raised by hand rather than cast, preserving subtle variations and tool marks that reveal the silversmith’s process. The domes graduate symmetrically from 27mm at the center to 17mm at the ends, creating a clean geometric rhythm with remarkable presence. Even the simple hook clasp was handmade.

The necklace remains threaded on its original cotton cord, an increasingly scarce survival that supports its mid-20th-century character. Its spare, sculptural design pairs traditional silversmithing with a distinctly modern sensibility.
