An ingenious 1940s bracelet handcrafted from nine .720 silver coins of the Netherlands East Indies, now Indonesia. Dating primarily to 1942, with four coins dated 1941, the composition alternates obverse and reverse to display the crowned Dutch arms and multilingual denomination designs.
The coins were gently hammered into shallow domes and arranged in two graduated sizes, creating an increasing rhythm of circles around the wrist. Handmade connector bars formed from 1.5mm half-round silver wire pass through the drilled coin holes, their ends curled inward to secure the coins while allowing flexible movement.
The custom buckle clasp is the exceptional finishing detail: two of the nine coins were converted into its corresponding parts, including a fitted silver bar and shaped tongue. Both the connecting hardware and clasp test as silver below sterling fineness.
