Description

A commanding vintage 1970s Brutalist ring conceived as wearable sculpture. A substantial tumbled carnelian appears to erupt from a mass of molten sterling silver, its warm translucent orange-red color glowing against deeply oxidized recesses.

The dramatic openwork crown is formed from irregular ribbons, jagged projections, and organic apertures that reveal the stone from multiple angles. A broad, bark-textured band continues the raw sculptural treatment, with intentionally uneven edges that preserve the artist-made character. Despite its substantial scale, the open construction keeps the ring visually dynamic on the hand.

  • Ring size: 6.5
  • Face: approximately 1 inch (26mm) in diameter
  • Height above the finger: approximately 7/16 inch (11mm)
  • Carnelian: approximately 1/2 inch (14mm) long and wide
  • Band width: approximately 8mm
  • Weight: approximately 14.5 grams
  • Unsigned and unmarked; carefully tested as sterling silver

Very good vintage condition with light wear consistent with age. The retained patina enhances the ring’s sculptural depth and emphasizes its dramatic openwork construction.
