Striking and sculptural, this vintage Adjust-O-Matic sewing mannequin dress form is constructed from heavy paper panels assembled with snaps and rivets, designed to be adjusted to match the physique of the wearer for custom garment fitting. Over time, the paper surface has developed a warm natural patina that gives the piece strong decorative presence and an evocative industrial “Metropolis” aesthetic.
The mannequin remains assembled and includes its original metal stand. The stand will ship disassembled for safety but is straightforward to put together; instructions will be included. The mannequin itself sits flat on a surface and displays beautifully whether mounted or freestanding.
The lower inner connector originally intended to stabilize the mannequin on the stand has split. This does not affect display use and is only relevant if the form were to be used for active sewing adjustments. There is also one small black sewing chalk line, visible in the close-up photo. Otherwise, the form shows no obvious damage and remains in good vintage condition with wear consistent with age.
This piece works equally well as a decorative studio object, a jewelry or fashion photography prop, or a conversation-starting example of mid-century sewing technology.
