Description
A rare antique sailor’s worry stone pocket watch fob set with an imitation moonstone on one side and an imitation jade on the other. Its use is confirmed by the wear pattern on the gold filled around the cabochons. Wear generally happens along the edges first.
Dating from the late 1800s, the setting depicts two anchors at the top, with the ropes creating the balance of the setting.
The condition is as found. There is some loss of plating due to the nature and regular use. There is an old solder joint at the bottom center. There is some wear on the top ring due to age and regular use.
The fob measures approximately 1 1/4 inches tall, including the ring on the top. It is almost 1 inch wide and 3/8 inch at the deepest point.
If this fob could talk, I wonder what stories it would tell!
