An exceptional late Victorian gold-filled book chain necklace, dating to approximately 1880–1900. Substantial articulated links are ornamented with applied diamond-shaped plaques, each engraved with delicate floral scrollwork. Beautifully constructed and unusually well preserved, the chain retains its rich gold finish with no visible loss.
The large spring ring serves as both the closure and an attachment point for a favorite locket, pendant, fob, or charm. With its substantial scale and intricate surface detail, the chain is equally striking worn alone as a close-fitting collar.
