Description
A fantastic Colombia pectoral necklace inspired by a pre-Colombian artifact. It features a moving mask or headdress and earrings. It is original to the Calima Culture, Yotoco.
This is an expert artisan brass rendition of the Yotoco headdress ornament from the Calima River Valley in southwest Colombia.
The original pre-Colombian piece is solid gold and was featured at the Met in NY during the “The Art of Pre-Columbian Gold: The Jan Mitchell Collection” exhibit. The original piece can be seen in the last photo.
Like the original, this pendant has several moving parts, including the mask and ear ornaments.
The condition is very good, slight patina on a few links of the chain. Marked Hecho en Colombia on the reverse.
The chain length is 26 inches approximately.
The pendant measures 4 inches tall and 3 1/2 inches wide.
