Antique $1.00 gold coin antique collar button made from a Liberty Head gold coin. This love token has a 14k gold back, the gold coin is from 1849 and has the “O” (New Orlean) mint mark.

Description
This amazing solid gold button is made from an 1849 O Liberty Head dollar coin, the first gold coin minted in the US and the smallest American gold coin at 13 mm in diameter.
The obverse is partially obstructed by the 14k gold finding that makes it into this beautiful gold collar button. You can see the open wreath and the “O” for the New Orleans Mint.
I deducted the year from the New Orleans Mint “O” mark. It is probably a Type 1.
The button’s total weight is approximately 2.4 grams. The coin is listed at 1.67 grams of 90% pure gold, leaving 0.77 grams for the 14k gold finding.
The finding is unmarked and was carefully tested. It is in excellent condition.
These were custom-made as gifts (love tokens) or to commemorate a life event.

- Returns are gladly accepted for store credit when you notify us within 7 days of order delivery. Returned items must be unworn, undamaged, and unaltered.
- Electronic store credits are issued to your account with PreAdored® and do not expire. Shipping charges are not credited. There are no refunds.
- Items which were discounted by any means or altered (as in the case of sized rings) are Final Sale and cannot be returned.
- If there is loss or damage in transit please let us know right away so we can assist with the insurance claim. The insurance coverage ends 7 days after delivery, so please don’t wait.
- If you need to return an item, please visit our self-service Returns Center for the RMA number. Returns sent without an RMA Number will be refused. We will respond quickly with instructions.
