Vintage Signed Mexican Sterling Silver Abalone Inlay Bracelet – Stylized Organic Design
This striking vintage Mexican bracelet is handcrafted in sterling silver and features a series of bold, stylized links inlaid with luminous natural abalone shell. Each link forms an abstract organic shape—suggestive of leaves or butterfly wings, yet intentionally non-representational—creating a fluid, sculptural design that feels both artistic and timeless.
The abalone inlay displays vibrant flashes of green, blue, violet, and rose, shifting beautifully with movement and light. Set against the silver framework, the shell creates a rhythmic pattern across the wrist, giving the bracelet strong visual presence without feeling heavy or rigid.
The bracelet is signed “Sterling, Mexico” along with a maker’s mark reading JH or a stylized H. Notably, it does not bear an Eagle mark or later alphanumeric registration stamp, indicating it predates standardized Mexican hallmarking. Based on construction, design language, and marks, this piece likely dates from the mid-20th century and may be as early as the 1930s.
In excellent vintage condition, the bracelet shows only light, age-consistent wear. All abalone inlay pieces are intact and well-set, and the craftsmanship remains crisp and expressive—an outstanding example of early Mexican modern silver work.
