Description
Gorgeous pair of Victorian Period earrings in 14k Yellow Gold with White and Blue enamel accents. Earrings are Repousse, a hand technique that shapes the metal from the back. Here two similar designs are used with indented floral pattern. The flowers on the face of the earrings are filled with vitreous enamel, the back is left plain.
Overall length of earring including the tiny sphere drops is approximately 2″. It is 14mm or almost 9/16″ at the widest point and 8mm or almost 5/16″ at the deepest point.
Overall approximate weight is 4.9 grams or 3.1 pennyweights. No marks, carefully tested.
Earrings are in excellent condition with no dents or loss of enamel. The top was replaced sometime in the 1930’s with costume jewelry screw backs. They would have been originally made for pierced ears. Estimated to date from around 1890’s, Late Victorian Period.
