Description
This beautiful antique Victorian slide chain necklace has a very nice slide adorned with Opals and seed pearls. The rolo style chain is finished with two round gold drops instead of the expected latch closure.
The slide itself has a very interesting design, shaped as two hearts at an angle. The space in between is adorned with twisted wire circles, Byzantine Revival style.
The chain is 40 inches long, it has no clasp. The slide has lost the spring but if you knot the chain ends right where you want the slide, it stays in place well. Please look at the photos for reference. You can also wear it by wrapping the chain around the neck and passing the end through the loop created, as in the second picture.
This antique necklace is made of gold filled. The opals and seed pearls are natural, The diameter of the pearls is about 1.3mm and the opals are 1.8mm. The chain is very nice with good weight and measures 2mm wide.
In excellent condition overall, estimated to date from the 1900’s.
