Description
A gorgeous large antique hand-painted porcelain button from the Victorian Era. The button itself was likely made in Limoges, France.
The button is a large oval, about 1 3/16 of an inch by 15/16 of an inch wide. It is hand-painted with three violet flowers and leaves, within a gilded edge.
The condition is excellent, there are no chips or repairs. Slight loss of the gilding on a small area of the edge, likely from regular use. They were blouse buttons.
This button is signed with the initials MBL for Mary Blanche Lenzi, a well-known artist who hand-painted French Limoges china during the turn of the 20th Century. She was much in demand for her paintings of Victorian flowers, particularly roses. She lived and worked in Norristown, PA.
