Description
Antique Victorian Coin Purse – Silver Plated Repousse Hinged Lid – Tatting Base with Cut Steel Beads
In good condition for its age, the lid has some loss of plating from daily use, and a couple of the steel cut beads at the base are missing. It’s an exquisite little purse!
The soft maroon body was created using a technique called tatting. Beautiful workmanship. The only mark is “Pat March 90” for a patent in 1890, making this little purse over 120 years old.
The repousse silver plated hinged lid measures 2 1/8 inches (53mm) in diameter.
The front button releases the lid and works well. It opens and stays closed well.
There isn’t a maker’s mark.
It weighs 1.6 ounces (46 grams) and is in good condition with light signs of wear consistent with age.
