Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Compact For Chatelaine – Pill Box Pendant
It is in very good condition with a considerable patina and a couple of small indents. This lovely pillbox-sized sterling silver compact has a gilded interior. The raised repousse cover holds a tiny mirror. There is a blank area for initials to be engraved.
There is a bail for carrying it as a pendant. It allows for a chain up to 3mm in diameter.
It is marked Sterling, and the maker’s mark is a capital letter “A” inside a square. It has not been identified.
The compact measures 1 1/2 inches in diameter and 1/16 inch (20mm) tall.
The overall approximate weight is 17 grams. It is estimated to date from the late 1800s.
