Description
French Art Deco Ring Cultured Button Pearl Marcasite Sterling Silver Ring Signed Size 7
A rare and beautiful hexagonal shaped ring from the Art Deco era. Fully hallmarked, it is in very good condition. The button pearl is cultured and a real pearl, not an imitation.
The setting measures 3/4 inch (19mm) by 1/2 inch (12.5mm).
The round pearl cabochon is 5/16 inch (8mm) in diameter. It rises 3/8 inch (9mm) above the hand.
The band width is 2mm. This is a size 7 ring that can be sized. Care should be taken to not remove any of the markings, one of which is on the outside of the shank.
The ring is marked Sterling, France, and has another stamp inside the shank which is difficult to see. I believe it indicates that the ring was manufactured in Algiers, prior to the Algiers war which lasted from 1954 to 1962. Algiers became independent from France in 1962. The outside of the shank has a tiny stamp which is not legible.
The condition is very good with most original marcasites present. Two tiny ones are missing, lost to time. It is not obvious when worn.
